ABOUT US
Secure Rite Security is a local security company that has been serving the Helderberg area in the Crime Detection and Prevention sector since 1994. Our Mission is to make this community a safer one for all. As part of that objective, we have a vested interested in the local Neighbourhood Watches.
Secure Rite Security resolves to be the preferred professional security services provider in the Helderberg area, by offering prompt, efficient and excellent service, by understanding the unique needs of our clients, and by working to meet only the highest standards as stipulated by The South Africa Intruder Detection Services Association (SAIDSA), PSIRA, and the insurance industry.
The company is owned and managed by members of this community, invested in this community.
CRAIG AUSTEN
Managing Director
Craig is hands on. His career in security began as a wireman years back and worked his way up the ranks, learning and perfecting every single facet of the business in detail. For down time, he can be found tinkering on his numerous guitars from acoustic to electric or sipping on a glass of good red wine. From time to time, he manages to take some time off with his family or get lost in his fantasy books. His better half, Kathy, is the creative force behind popular local business Wonky Wines, and Secure Rite’s secret weapon.
CHRIS JACOBS
Director
Chris has been involved in the industry for over 40 years now. Starting out as a Security Consultant for De Beers in Kimberley, Chris co-founded the very first Monitoring and Armed Response Company in that area. On relocating to the Western Cape, he then started Secure Rite in 1994. Having now handed over the operation to Craig, we still make sure to keep him very involved – that is, when we are able to entice him off his electric bicycle. We are just not quite willing to let go of his expertise and experience yet!
HERMAN RAS
Armed Response Manager
A well known figure in local security circles, Herman and his highly trained team of Armed Response Officers, ensures that our response service is swift and no-nonsense. That said, we take pride in the warmth and genuine friendliness of our officers under Herman’s leadership. When not out and about in one of our branded Secure Rite Security vehicles (please hoot!), Herman can be found manning braai tongs, ensuring that our officers have a chance to connect and enjoy each others’ company as a tightly knit team.
WILLIE ENGELBRECHT
Guarding Manager
Our Guarding manager Willie Engelbrecht is an ex SAPS police Captain with 24 years’ experience. He has worked at the Special Investigation Task Unit (that was set up by the late President Nelson Mandela) as well as the Dog Unit, Truck Theft Unit, Murder/Robbery Unit and various other specialised units.
Willie has been in the security industry for 23 years. In 1997 he was appointed Commander and started the Creighton Farm Watch in the Natal Midlands. Thereafter he started his own security company and later headed up Helderberg Crime Watch as manager in Somerset West.
He has been associated with Secure Rite Security since 2013. He and his supervisors are available 24/7 to our clients. Our team of handpicked individuals undergo a rigorous selection process to qualify as a Security Officer in the Guarding Division. Security Officers are assessed on a monthly basis by our training manager, and they are required to partake in all our training programmes.
SELMA BOWERS
24hr Operations Centre Manager
Part of the Secure Rite Security family since 2005, Selma ensures that our Operations Centre is efficiently manned 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. When not keeping a watchful eye on her team of highly trained controllers, Selma applies the same kindness, efficiency and calm which she brings to her work role, to her role as a single mum of three lovely teenaged girls. In her spare time she enjoys music and having fun with friends.
PETER WALKER
Assets and Finance Manager
If it’s an account query you have, then Peter’s team is most certainly the one to talk to. Always helpful and warm, Pete has been with the company long enough to know everything about everything. For a bean counter, he certainly does not fit the mould: when not managing Secure Rite Security’s financial affairs, Pete is likely to be found on the West Coast, fishing and diving. Or hunting. Or studying rocks. And if you need to know anything about our local wines, he is a great source of information on that subject also.
BYRON WILLIAMS
Technical Manager
Technical Manager, Byron Williams has more than 20 years’ experience in the security industry.
He has covered every facet of the business from wireman right through to management in a number of international security companies.
He has been associated with Secure Rite Security since 2013. He has his finger on the pulse and with his endless experience and wisdom, his passion and drive is to ensure his Technical and Service teams stay motivated and trained. He continues to interact with clients on a daily basis ensuring that Secure Rite Security service is top class at all times.
In his spare time Byron enjoys fishing, sports coaching, playing cricket and football. His bubbly personality brings the best out of him and his family.
