Since 1994, Secure Rite Security has been a trusted security company in the Helderberg, specialising in crime detection, crime prevention, and rapid armed response services. As a proudly family-owned and operated business, we are deeply rooted in the Somerset West, Strand, and Gordon’s Bay communities we serve.
Our mission is simple: to create safer homes, businesses, and neighbourhoods through reliable security solutions and strong community partnerships with SAPS, Law Enforcement, and local neighbourhood watches.
Secure Rite provides a full range of professional security services, including armed response, alarm system installation and monitoring, CCTV camera systems, access control, electric fencing, guarding services, and technical security solutions. Our team combines decades of experience with modern security technology to deliver dependable protection tailored to each client’s needs.
We pride ourselves on precision workmanship, responsive service, and practical security advice backed by proven systems and industry expertise. As members of SAIDSA and PSIRA, and in full compliance with insurance industry standards, we ensure every installation and service meets the highest professional benchmarks.

CRAIG AUSTEN
Managing Director
Craig is hands on. His career in security began as a wireman years back and worked his way up the ranks, learning and perfecting every single facet of the business in detail. For down time, he can be found tinkering on his numerous guitars from acoustic to electric or sipping on a glass of good red wine. From time to time, he manages to take some time off with his family or get lost in his fantasy books. His better half, Kathy, is the creative force behind popular local business Wonky Wines, and Secure Rite’s secret weapon.

Craig is hands on. His career in security began as a wireman years back and worked his way up the ranks, learning and perfecting every single facet of the business in detail. From time to time, he manages to take some time off with his family or get lost in his fantasy books. Chris Jacobs
Director
Chris has been in the security industry for over 40 years. He began as a Security Consultant for De Beers in Kimberley and went on to co-found the first Monitoring and Armed Response Company in the area. After relocating to the Western Cape, he established Secure Rite in 1994. While Chris has since handed over operations to Craig, we still keep him closely involved - when we can coax him off his electric bicycle. With decades of insight and experience, we’re not quite ready to let go of his steady guidance just yet.

Herman Ras
Armed Response Manager
A familiar face in local security circles, Herman leads our Armed Response team with precision and pride. Under his guidance, our officers deliver a swift, no-nonsense response, always backed by genuine warmth and professionalism. You’ll often spot Herman out and about in one of our branded Secure Rite vehicles (give a hoot if you see him!). When he’s not on patrol, he’s behind the braai, making sure the team has time to bond and recharge. With Herman at the helm, our officers remain a close-knit unit, both on and off duty.

Willie Engelbrecht
Guarding Manager
Our Guarding Manager, Willie Engelbrecht, is a former SAPS Captain with 24 years of service, having worked in elite units including the Dog Unit, Murder and Robbery Unit, and the Special Investigation Task Unit founded by President Mandela. With 23 years in private security, he launched Creighton Farm Watch in 1997, ran his own company, and later led Helderberg Crime Watch. Since 2013, Willie has brought his expertise to Secure Rite. He and his team are on call 24/7, with officers carefully selected, continuously assessed, and committed to ongoing, hands-on training.

24HR Operations Centre Manger
Selma has been part of the Secure Rite family since 2005, ensuring our Operations Centre runs smoothly 24/7. With a calm and steady hand, she leads a team of highly trained controllers who keep eyes on everything, day and night. Selma brings that same warmth and efficiency to her role as a dedicated single mum to three teenage daughters. Somehow, she still finds time to enjoy music and relax with friends. With Selma at the helm, our Ops Centre remains a calm, collected hub—even when things get a little busy.

Selma has been part of the Secure Rite family since 2005, ensuring our Operations Centre runs smoothly 24/7. With a calm and steady hand, she leads a team of highly trained controllers who keep eyes on everything, day and night. If you’ve got an account query, Peter’s team is the one to call. Warm, helpful, and unflappable, Pete’s been with Secure Rite long enough to know just about everything. But don’t let the numbers fool you - this bean counter breaks the mould. When he’s not managing finances, he’s off exploring the West Coast, fishing, diving, hunting, or studying rocks. A man of many talents, Pete is also our unofficial wine expert, always ready with a good recommendation. Around here, we reckon there’s not much Pete doesn’t know something about.

Byron Williams brings over 20 years of hands-on security industry experience, having worked his way from wireman to management across several international companies. He’s been with Secure Rite since 2013, keeping a close eye on our Technical and Service teams to ensure they’re motivated, well-trained, and delivering top-class service. Byron’s passion, wisdom, and daily client interactions keep standards high. When he’s off duty, you’ll find him fishing, coaching sport, or hitting the cricket or football field. With his bubbly personality, Byron brings energy to both work and family life.
